5G has come into its own with its stand-alone version that has its own brain, or the evolved packet core, unleashing its full signaling potential to drive an entirely new generation of massive machine-type communications and ultra-reliable low latency applications beyond broadband media applications of the first generation. New business models for immersive communications, telehealth with haptics, collaborative robotics, and visibility for remote monitoring will become commonplace with the expanded technological capabilities.
